2023.11 sandbox

sandbox follows an interest in our childhood toys and the homes we build for them- often off-kilter, made of stuff much too large and entirely errant. this “wrongful” manipulation of scale specific to the imaginative play we have so much nostalgia for is revived in a series of models, new playthings for purely adult pleasure. the things we’ve made are inspired by our favorite toys- bathtubs made into pools with our dolls as scale figures, sea monkeys that we still aren’t quite sure what they are or how they are made (we don’t really want to know), good onions and bad onions, a plastic starry night, and drawing machines to give us childish hands. these objects are responsive to unsolved childhood mysteries and storylines we never finished.
